Select the Right Carpenter

Somerset KY carpenter hammering nailCarpenters are highly skilled contractors who work primarily with wood.  These Somerset KY tradesmen are usually licensed and offer a wide range of services related to carpentry and woodworking.  Depending on the job, you may need a general carpenter or a finish carpenter.  A general carpenter is a journeyman who is qualified to complete the majority of residential carpentry work.  A finish carpenter however does the more intricate work, which may include cabinet and furniture making, joinery, and other more refined woodworking projects.  So it is important when choosing a professional carpenter that you select someone who is suited to the specific work you need completed and has the skills and experience to perform the carpentry work to your satisfaction.

Why Hire a Professional Carpenter

Somerset KY carpenter installing cabinets“Carpentry” is a profession and a trade that is regulated and licensed by each State.  It is generally not the type of work that you want to trust to someone who is a general handyman or a “Mister Fixit”.  So when your porch needs mending or your staircase needs replacing, it is very important to enlist the services of a licensed local carpenter in Somerset KY.  Following are just a few of the advantages of hiring a skilled carpenter in your area instead of an unlicensed handyman.

  • Carpenters can get the job done fast and to your satisfaction. When you need a new deck built or a new addition to your home, you want someone who will begin the project promptly and complete the job professionally and on time. You also want someone who will guarantee their work and is licensed and insured for your protection.
  • Carpenters have the experience and skill to handle any job. When it comes to woodworking, a local Somerset KY carpenter has the ability to tackle any job.  You don’t want a handyman who will be building a garage for the first time on your home, or a layman who doesn’t know the first thing about installing cabinets.  Carpenters work as apprentices until they learn all of the skills required through experience to command the title of a Professional Carpenter.
  • Carpenters keep up to date on the latest trends in their profession. As licensed professionals, carpenters keep abreast of the latest developments in their trade.  They take pride in their work and continually stay current on new tools and equipment as well as advanced techniques in carpentry.  This guarantees that you will receive the most up to date service available when you hire a certified Somerset KY carpenter.
  • Carpenters develop long term relationships with their customers. It may seem like an intangible benefit, but once you find a professional licensed carpenter that you trust, it only takes one phone call to address all of your carpentry needs.  You will be in the company’s system for contact information as well as any previous services performed, and you will receive priority treatment as a valued customer.  No need to find someone new the next time a stair railing needs replacement or a door needs to be framed and hung.  And since you are in their data base you will receive any special promotions or incentives whenever they are made available to their Somerset KY customers.

Need a Carpenter in Somerset Kentucky?

If you live in Somerset KY and are in need of affordable carpentry services, following is some interesting and perhaps useful information about your hometown.

Somerset, Kentucky

Somerset was first settled in 1798 by Thomas Hansford and received its name from Somerset County, New Jersey, where some of the early settlers had formerly lived. Somerset became the Pulaski County seat in 1802, and it was incorporated as a city in 1887. A significant Civil War battle was fought in January 1862, at Mill Springs (now "Nancy") about 8 miles (13 km) west of Somerset, and a museum is at the site. A smaller battle was fought nearby at Dutton's Hill in 1863. In 1875 tracks for the Southern Railroad were completed and Somerset saw a sudden population growth and an increase in industry.[2] In the late 1930s and early 1940s, library services were provided by the pack horse library.[3][4] The completion of Lake Cumberland in 1950 transformed Somerset from a sleepy rural community into one of the largest recreation centers in Kentucky, drawing more than 1.7 million visitors annually, especially between the Memorial and Labor Day holidays.

Somerset is located at 37°4′59″N 84°36′34″W / 37.08306°N 84.60944°W / 37.08306; -84.60944 (37.082966, -84.609387),[5] and the downtown (central) part of the city is at an elevation of 974 feet above sea level. The city is located at the eastern end of Kentucky's Mississippian Plateau (or Pennyroyal Plateau); however, the micropolitan area extends eastward into the Appalachian Plateau (or Eastern Kentucky Coalfield), and northward to Kentucky's Outer Bluegrass region. Thus, the area shows significant variations in landforms and scenery.

Nearby Lake Cumberland is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world (101 miles in length, with an average depth of 85 feet (26 m) and a normal pool containing more than 2 trillion gallons of water). Somerset is also near Cumberland Falls and the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area; its tourism industries are, in part, due to its scenic and varied landscape.[6]
